In May 2023, WWF-Hong Kong signed a Memorandum of Understanding with The Chinese University of Hong Kong in the hopes of strengthening collaboration between both parties and raising further public awareness about marine conservation.
Coral Academy is an outreach programme led by Dr. Apple Chui, a Research Assistant Professor from the School of Life Sciences, The Chinese University of Hong Kong,dedicated to coral research, restoration, and education work. It aims to enhance public awareness and knowledge of the rich marine biodiversity of Hong Kong, with a special focus on coral communities and conservation through seminars, workshops, eco-tours, and lab visits, providing first-hand experiences for participants. Since 2019, her team has reached at least 30 local secondary schools and over 10,000 students and teachers.
